Stop nail biting

Hypnosis can help break the habit of nail biting or nail picking by bringing the habit to conscious awareness. Often we don’t realise that we are biting our nails until we have created a raggedy nail and then it is very difficult to stop.

Hypnotherapy for nail biting focuses on positive suggestions for strong, healthy nails and aims to bring the habit in to conscious awareness so that you can take control of it. Results can be felt after just one session but a course of three session would be more beneficial.

Public speaking / performance anxiety / exam nerves

Hypnosis for public speaking anxiety is very helpful for all forms of performance phobias. It could be a one-off event such as a wedding speech or for many people the everyday work situation of speaking in front of colleagues or making presentations to a group can cause a high level of stress.

Exam nerves, driving test nerves and anxiety about an interview are other forms of performance anxiety that can benefit from hypnotherapy.

Stop blushing

Fear of blushing or erythrophobia is usually be one of the physical consequences of a performance anxiety. Blushing can also be triggered by a specific word or situation. For those who blush easily the fear of blushing can cause a lot of stress and anxiety and affect their quality of life.

Hypnotherapy for blushing not only helps eliminate the symptom but it will also build self-esteem and the confidence to feel at ease in all manner of situations.

Phobia therapy

Phobias are very common and we can be phobic to all manner of objects, situations and animals. A phobic response causes the sympathetic nervous system to respond with a rush if adrenaline and an accompanying sense of panic.

Hypnotherapy offers a recognised phobia cure whether it be for social phobia, dental phobia, fear of flying, birds, dogs or spiders, phobia of heights, needles, driving, open spaces, claustrophobia, agoraphobia and so on.

Fear of Flying

Hypnotherapy offers a gentle and effective way of removing the emotional connection that has been made with flying. In short, it's not the flying that's the problem, it's the fear associated with it. Take away the fear - and flying is ok! When the unconscious mind lets go of the fear response flying can be undertaken with just the appropriate level of healthy concern.

Weight loss hypnosis

The unconscious mind doesn’t comprehend a negative so ‘don’t eat chocolate’ is in fact understood as ‘eat chocolate’. With this in mind it is easy to see why efforts to ‘not eat fattening food’ often fail.

Hypnotherapy for weight loss works in harmony with the unconscious mind and focuses suggestions on what you would like to achieve rather than what you are trying to avoid.

There are a variety of techniques that can be used in weight loss hypnotherapy including aversion therapy which can create a powerful aversion to a particular food such as chocolate. This won’t last forever but will last long enough to allow healthier eating habits to develop.

Hypnosis for self-esteem issues

We all have inner resources that we can call upon to help increase our self esteem and cope with the demands of life. All hypnotherapy sessions, regardless of the symptom being treated, include techniques to help access your inner resources and strengthen your ego.

However if you have a particular problem relating to low self-confidence, negative self-image, difficulty with relationships or shyness then sessions can be tailored to help specifically increase your sense of self-worth and enable you to be more assertive in your daily interactions. In other words hypnotherapy can help you feel so much more positive about yourself and your life.

Reduce stress, nervousness and anxiety

Feelings of stress, nervousness or anxiety affect many of us as at one time or another to varying degrees. You may be suffering from a period of acute stress due to your present circumstances or it may be a chronic condition that has affected you for some time.

Whatever the situation hypnotherapy can help reduce anxiety and change your perspective to bring a greater sense of balance and acceptance. You will also learn skills to increase relaxation and generally help you cope better with whatever life has to offer. This will not only improve your quality of life it will also reduce the chance of developing stress related illnesses.

Headache relief

If there is no reason for your headaches other than tension, hypnotherapy can help in two ways. Firstly, by helping you deal with the cause of the tension so that you are a lot less likely to manifest a headache and secondly, if a headache does occur, by helping you cope better with the discomfort.

There are many factors governing the perception of pain. Hypnosis uses specific pain management techniques to reduce the sensation, shorten the length of the headache and allow you to get on with your daily life without the need for medication.

It is important that a GP has confirmed that the headaches are tension related and that all other possible causes have been ruled out.

Hypnotherapy for IBS

Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Sufferers of IBS can have many different symptoms which can be relieved or reduced by the wide variety of hypnotherapy techniques available.

As a condition with a strong psychological component IBS can respond extremely well to the physical and emotional relaxation that hypnotherapy brings.

And if pain is a factor there are hypnosis techniques available to help the sufferer self-manage the pain when necessary.

As a nutritional therapist offering Food Intolerance Testing I have a particular interest in IBS. I work with many people who suffer from bowel problems which have no apparent physical cause. I offer dietary and lifestyle advice to help relieve IBS and have had very good feedback from clients.
