Help to quit smoking

Stop nail biting

Hypnosis can help break the habit of nail biting or nail picking by bringing the habit to conscious awareness. Often we don’t realise that we are biting our nails until we have created a raggedy nail and then it is very difficult to stop.

Hypnotherapy for nail biting focuses on positive suggestions for strong, healthy nails and aims to bring the habit in to conscious awareness so that you can take control of it. Results can be felt after just one session but a course of three session would be more beneficial.

Public speaking / performance anxiety / exam nerves

Hypnosis for public speaking anxiety is very helpful for all forms of performance phobias. It could be a one-off event such as a wedding speech or for many people the everyday work situation of speaking in front of colleagues or making presentations to a group can cause a high level of stress.

Hypnosis can be used to help those suffering from insomnia whether it be a chronic or acute problem. Insomnia takes a variety of forms: you may have difficulty getting to sleep, you may waken during the night and be unable to get back to sleep or you may waken too early in the morning.

Hypnotherapy can help encourage a good night’s sleep and also treat the low mood, anxiety or any other issues that may be at the root of the sleep problem.

Fear of blushing or erythrophobia is usually be one of the physical consequences of a performance anxiety. Blushing can also be triggered by a specific word or situation. For those who blush easily the fear of blushing can cause a lot of stress and anxiety and affect their quality of life.

Phobias are very common and we can be phobic to all manner of objects, situations and animals. A phobic response causes the sympathetic nervous system to respond with a rush if adrenaline and an accompanying sense of panic.

Headache relief

If there is no reason for your headaches other than tension, hypnotherapy can help in two ways. Firstly, by helping you deal with the cause of the tension so that you are a lot less likely to manifest a headache and secondly, if a headache does occur, by helping you cope better with the discomfort.

There are many factors governing the perception of pain. Hypnosis uses specific pain management techniques to reduce the sensation, shorten the length of the headache and allow you to get on with your daily life without the need for medication.

It is important that a GP has confirmed that the headaches are tension related and that all other possible causes have been ruled out.

Hypnotherapy for IBS

Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Sufferers of IBS can have many different symptoms which can be relieved or reduced by the wide variety of hypnotherapy techniques available.

As a condition with a strong psychological component IBS can respond extremely well to the physical and emotional relaxation that hypnotherapy brings.

And if pain is a factor there are hypnosis techniques available to help the sufferer self-manage the pain when necessary.

As a nutritional therapist offering Food Intolerance Testing I have a particular interest in IBS. I work with many people who suffer from bowel problems which have no apparent physical cause. I offer dietary and lifestyle advice to help relieve IBS and have had very good feedback from clients.
