Can anyone be hypnotised?
Correctly speaking, yes but you can only be hypnotised if you want to be. If you have not been in formal hypnosis before you may be a little bit resistant to begin with and this is perfectly normal.
As you become more familiar with both the therapist and the procedure itself you should easily drift in to a hypnotic trance which for most people is a very pleasant state to be in.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
Not at all. As a hypnotherapist I can’t make you do anything that you don’t want to do. If I could I would be a very rich woman!
You will remain in complete control at all times during each session and could at anytime simply open your eyes and walk out.

Is everything I tell you treated in confidence?
Yes absolutely. I am a member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists and I abide by their code of conduct.
However if anything you say causes me to believe that either yourself or a third party are at risk of harm then I am obliged by law to contact the appropriate authorities.
As part of my on-going professional development I have a clinical supervisor with whom I discuss cases but your anonymity would be fully preserved at all times.

How many sessions will I need?
It is impossible to say exactly how many sessions will be required as we are all unique and so respond to hypnotherapy in our own way and at our own pace.
Some people will notice a huge difference after the first session where as others will make gradual changes over a longer period of time.
Generally speaking although many conditions respond well after just a couple of sessions a course of three sessions is usually recommended to get the greatest benefit.

How far apart should appointments be taken?
A gap of one or two weeks between appointments is ideal but they can be more spread out if finances or work/family commitments are an issue.
